Gun Lake Casino Food & Beverage Assistant Manager in Wayland, Michigan

Position Summary:

Responsibilities include overseeing the performance and coordination of all work performed by all Food Team Members assigned. Passing on pertinent information to F&B Managers, Supervisors, and Team Members, and ensuring proper service standards are used in all internal and external Guest experiences.

In this Role:

  • Responsible for always practicing, supporting, and promoting Gun Lake Casino’s “Unsurpassed Service Standards.”

  • Maintain a high level of personal integrity on and off duty.

  • Practice teamwork, support fellow Team Members, and create an energized, positive, team-oriented work environment.

  • Interact with Guests in a friendly and courteous manner and handle all Guest opportunities.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate both written and verbally with Guests, Team Members, and Management.

  • Responsible for participating in the creation of annual budgets and managing and leading the unit in all forecasting and cost controls to meet or exceed units operating financial potentials and goals.

  • Set schedules and specific job duties, while maintaining Team Members’ hours for proper staffing as defined through established service standards under guidance from F&B Manager.

  • Conduct group and individual training regarding policies and procedures on an ongoing basis. Set daily, weekly, and monthly goals and opportunities and lead the unit to achieve the desired result with direction from F&B Manager.

  • Evaluate and oversee job performance of Team Members.

  • Responsible for handling any Team Member or Guest opportunities.

  • Display and encourage teamwork in the department.

  • Provide support, materials, supplies, etc. to ensure Team Members have the proper tools to provide Gun Lake Casino’s Service Standards.

  • Ensure that all Team Members are knowledgeable of and adhere to all Gun Lake Casino’s Standards.

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as set forth by the Senior Director of Food and Beverage and the Director of Food & Beverage.

  • Coach and counsel Team Members who are not meeting standards. Understand the steps of discipline.

  • Communicate on a consistent basis with all managers, keeping them abreast of all room activities.

  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with department policies and Health Department Regulations.

  • Hold daily huddles with Team Members to communicate pertinent information.

  • Work with management team to control cost.

  • Practice and observe safety rules and regulations and ensure Team Members reporting to you do so as well. Ensure your areas comply with Board of Health Standards and Regulations.

  • Work productively with direct supervisor and peers.

  • Have knowledge of where your SDS booklet is located for your Department and understand its contents. Ensure Team Members are trained on materials in the book.

  • Motivate and influence Team Members by displaying a positive attitude, problem-solving skills, and upholding Department’s conduct expectations.

  • Display knowledge of all emergency procedures.

  • Maintain excellent grooming and uniform standards.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.

  • Four (4) years of food and beverage service experience in a fast-paced, specialty retail restaurant required.

  • Two (2) years as a supervisor or one (1) year as a restaurant assistant general manager having full P&L responsibility required. Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in both written and verbal forms.

  • Comprehensive food, wine, spirits, and beverage knowledge with some culinary background or experience preferred.

  • Comprehensive food knowledge, which includes profit and loss statements, cost control, menu planning, budgeting, training, inventory control, and sanitation.

  • Must possess and demonstrate great attention to detail in order to maintain unit’s appearance and operating standards.

  • Must demonstrate sound judgment and maturity in his or her decision-making ability, even when dealing with difficult situations.

  • Certificate/License: ServSafe food safety certification, TIPS alcohol certification, and gaming license required.

  • Must possess and demonstrate strong leadership skills and ability that will enhance and exemplify Gun Lake Casino’s “Unsurpassed Service” standards.

  • Must manage time effectively with minimum supervision.

  • Work experience in the gaming or hospitality industry is preferred.

  • Must obtain a Gun Lake Tribal Gaming License

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.

  • Must have the manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment.

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, run, and climb stairs for the duration of shift.

  • Must have the ability to access all properties and areas.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.

  • Requires a normal sense of smell, taste, and touch.

  • Ability to read, write and input data into the computer.

  • Ability to stoop, crouch and kneel.

Work Conditions:

Work is typically in an office environment or out on the casino floor. Work areas may be warm, cold, or noisy. Tasks may be required to perform from a sitting or non-sitting position in a confined area. Team Members may be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull, and grasp.
